A Whole House Comfort Checkup is a thorough evaluation of all your home’s comfort systems. Independent research shows that over 90% of homes have hidden air control problems – is your home one of them?
Do you have:
- Hot or cold rooms?
- Excessive dust?
- A noisy system?
- High utility or repair bills?
- Air that is too dry or too humid?
There are solutions to these problems. The first step is to pinpoint the precise cause of your problems with a Whole House Comfort Checkup.
The process includes:
- Initial Consultation: For our initial consultation we sit down with our customer and conduct a short interview with them. The interview finds out a little bit about our customer’s home. We ask a few questions about the age of the house, if there is too much dust, and if there are any hot or cold spots throughout the house.
- Equipment Inspection: Our technician goes through the house and inspects the homeowner’s equipment. We check the furnace, water heater, air conditioner, and anything else, like that, to make sure there aren’t any visible problems with the equipment before we get into the rest of the house.
- Insulation Inspection: In this step of the process we go up to the attic and inspect the insulation. We measure it to see if there has been any deterioration. We also see if the vapor barrier is still in tact.
- Air Leakage Evaluation: We hook up a blower door in the front door of the house to depressurize the house. Next, we go around, with the homeowner, and find any air leakage throughout the house. Some of the leaks are simple for the homeowner to fix on their own, and some may be a little more complex.
- Air Flow Diagnostics: With the blower door still going we test the duct system. We go around the house and measure the duct leakage at each supply and return register with a flow hood. This procedure will let us know if the duct system is leaky or not.
- Personalized Improvements Plan: As we were doing the previous two steps we took down some numbers. We get some numbers from the blower door and some from the flow hood. We enter the numbers into our computer program and it helps us come up with a personalized improvement plan for your house that will help lower your bills and improve your health.
